Thus high risk HPV (types 16, 18 and a large number of rarer types) are found in a large proportion of cases and there is good reason to suspect that they are involved in the causation of penile cancer [McCance et al., 1986], i.e, are the same viral types as are responsible for virtually all cases of cervical cancer in women (see below). However, some of these symptoms (such as fever , swollen glands, frequent infections, anemia , or bruises) are also associated with other infections or conditions that are much more common than cancer.
